Luka Doncic set to return; Jalen Brunson out vs Utah

Luka Doncic is expected to make his return for the Dallas Mavericks in the game against the Utah Jazz on Monday night, per NBA Insider Marc Stein.

Doncic missed the previous game due to a left toe sprain. The Mavericks will get their superstar back, but, they’ll be missing Jalen Brunson with a right foot contusion, Stein reports.

All signs point to Luka Dončić (left toe sprain) playing tonight for Dallas after a one-game absence but the Mavericks now list fellow starter Jalen Brunson (right foot contusion) as out for the home date with Utah. The Mavericks are in the midst of one of their best runs this season. They have won six of their last seven losing only to Utah on Feb.25.

They will try to get back one from the Jazz tonight with Luka Doncic in the starting lineup. In 48 games this season, Doncic has averaged 27.8 points per game along with 9.2 rebounds and 8.8 assists.

He has been playing some of the best basketball of his career during the last few weeks. He was named Player of the Month in the West for February.

Prior to the toe injury, Doncic was averaging 34.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 8.9 assists in his last 14 games. Brunson has also been a huge part of the Mavs’ 39-25 record.

In 63 games, he is averaging 16.2 points and 5.3 assists per game. With Brunson out, Spencer Dinwiddie could be bound to start again.

Dallas enters Monday sitting at fifth in the Western Conference. The Jazz is right above them as the fourth seed with a 40-23 record having eight wins in the last 10 games.

The Mavericks will hope to add to their four-game winning streak. In the last four, they beat Golden State (twice), the LA Lakers and Sacramento Kings.
