The Dallas Mavericks avoided the sweep Tuesday night and they are heading back to San Francisco for another “win or go home” game. Luka Doncic still believes the Mavs can get back in the series, despite being down 3-1 to the Warriors.
“I still believe we can win, you know,” Doncic said. “Swept or not swept. In the end, if you lose you lose. Don’t matter how many we win. We have to go game by game. We going to believe until the end.”
Doncic has been a power to reckon when it comes to potential closeout games. He went for 30 points, (10/26 shooting), 14 rebounds and 9 assists to lead his team. Doncic claimed he does not approach these games any differently.
“I don’t think nothing differently. I just want to win the game and that’s it. Now we won two games, against the wall. We got more to do, you know. This is nothing. We got three more. We have to go game by game and believe.”
The Mavs beat Golden State 109-119 despite letting a 29-point deficit slip out of their hands in the fourth quarter. Dallas shot 50 percent from the field and 46 percent from beyond the arc.
Dallas will need to trend their shooting to the same direction next game if they want to make a comeback against a team like the Golden State Warriors, who are hoping to reach to their sixth NBA Final in the last eight years.
“We believe it’s just one game at a time. We did our part tonight. We found a way to win. The next part is to find a way to win on the road. Again, we can’t get ahead of ourselves. It’s still 3-1,” Mavs coach Jason Kidd said.
“We know going into Golden State it’s a tough place to win, but we’ve won there before. We just have to continue to take care of the ball, make shots.”
