Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic is part of the All-NBA First-Team for the 2021-22 season. This was the third team selection for the Slovenian superstar who led the Dallas Mavericks to the playoffs as the fourth seed.

Doncic is the fourth player in history to be named to the All-NBA First Team three or more times before turning 24. He joins the likes of Tim Duncan, Kevin Durant and Max Zaslofsky, who did the same in their respective careers.

“It’s a blessing,” Doncic said. “As a kid, I was dreaming of being in the NBA, and now it’s my third All-NBA team. I’m really happy and thankful to everybody that made it happen.”

In the aftermath of the announcement, Doncic put another masterful performance in the postseason and kept the season alive for the Dallas Mavericks. The Mavs were down 3-0 entering Game 4 on Tuesday night.

“I don’t think anybody’s surprised that he’s first team,” coach Jason Kidd said. “But that’s really cool for him. It just shows the talent level. And the other four are pretty talented, too.”

“Again, he’s our leader,” Kidd said. “Where he goes, we go. And he loves that stage. For him to be first team with the other four, that’s a great honor for him.”

Doncic has backed up his selection with amazing play in both the regular season and the playoffs. He averaged 28.4 points, 9.1 rebounds and 8.7 assists during the season. And he’s continued that up with averages of 32.0 points and 10 rebounds in 13 playoff games.

Dončić led the Mavericks to a 52-30 record in 2021-22 – their first 50-win season since 2014-15 (50-32). He also led the team to its first Conference Final berth since the Mavs’ championship season back in 2011.
