Lebron James says Lakers wasted opportunity in loss to Pelicans

LeBron James put together a great performance in the Lakers’ Sunday loss to the Pelicans. However, he shared a concerning update after suffering an ankle injury during Sunday’s game.

The Lakers saw their superstar suffer an ankle injury in the first half of the game. James had outplayed the Pelicans in the first half, and the Lakers finished with a 20-point lead at the intermission.

However, both James and his team failed to build on the momentum and allowed Pelicans to come back and win the game in the third and fourth quarter. Lakers pnly scored 39 points in the second half.

James said that the Lakers wasted an opportunity, claiming the team could not maintain its poise for the whole 48 minutes.

“We haven’t been able to sustain all year, and tonight was one of those instances once again,” James said, via ESPN’s Andrew Lopez.

“It feels like s—. I mean, excuse my language, but that’s what it feels like. I came in with the mindset understanding it was a playoff-type atmosphere, playoff implications and things of that nature. … It feels like a wasted opportunity, obviously, for myself and for our team.”

With that loss, the Lakers dropped a half-game behind the New Orleans Pelicans, and they are 1.5 games ahead of the 11th-seeded San Antonio Spurs.

The Lakers are again in a tough spot after taking steps in the right direction in the last few games. In any case, they will need to win in order to remain in the play-in conversation. Next game is against the Mavericks in Dallas.
