LeBron James made his return to Cleveland and led the Los Angeles Lakers to the win over the Cavaliers (131-120).
The “King” was unstoppable offensively and posted an impressive triple-double, with 38 points (17/29 shooting), 11 rebounds and 12 assists.
Five more players scored in double figures for the Lakers, who improved to 31-41 and remained ninth in the West.
On the other hand, six Cavs players were in double digits, with Darius Garland making a monster double-double (29 points, 16 assists).
Cleveland saw its two-game winning streak come to an end and dropped to 41-31. The Cavaliers remained sixth in the East and ended their five-game homestand with a 3-2 record.
For LeBron James, this was just the third time he played in Cleveland since his departure back in 2018. The four-time NBA champion spent 11 seasons with the Cavaliers (2003-2010, 2014-2018) and led the franchise to the 2016 championship.
The superstar forward is averaging 35.5 points over the last nine Lakers games. He is the main reason why the 17-time NBA champions are still alive in the playoff race.
The Lakers have won only twice in their last six games and are 7-17 since January 9. Based on the current standings, they will need to defeat the New Orleans Pelicans to reach the postseason.
LeBron James and the Lakers also swept the season series with Cleveland (2-0). They had defeated the Cavaliers in Los Angeles back on October 29 (113-101).
