LeBron James having the time of his life despite Lakers’ struggles

LeBron James played just his third game against the Cleveland Cavaliers since his departure from The Land in 2018.

The Lakers’ superstar enjoyed his return with a 38-point triple-double vs his former team. He then said he is enjoying playing basketball after Lakers won three of the last four in their most recent road trip.

“I’m having a blast playing the game of basketball. Once I leave the arena, I leave it there. I’m really having the time of my life right now. I’m working through it and we’re working through it and that’s all that matters,” James said via NBA.com.

After his postgame TV interview, James left slapping hands with fans on his way to the locker room. With 10 NBA Finals appearances and four championships, James has nothing to prove.

“At my point in my career, I don’t get involved in that stuff. I don’t read about it, I don’t hear it too much. … None of that stuff matters to me, I’m having a blast playing the game of basketball,” James said via ESPN.

James even dunked on his former teammate Kevin Love. Both players alongside Kyrie Irving led Cleveland to its first championship back in 2016. The Lakers’ superstar was excusatory to his former teammate.

“To be completely honest, I hated that it had to be him,” James said jokingly.  “He’s my guy. That’s my brother. And I hope I’m still invited to [Love’s] wedding. That’s not even in my all-time dunks so I’ll take it out. I didn’t mean it.”

The Lakers are hoping to continue their momentum heading to the final 10 games of the season. LA still have six of their final 10 games on the road, including tough home games against the Philadelphia 76ers and the Denver Nuggets.

The Lakers are barely holding on to No. 9 in the Western Conference one game ahead of the No. 10 New Orleans Pelicans and three games up on the No. 11 San Antonio Spurs.
