LeBron James ‘extremely happy’ with Lakers amid Cavs rumors

LeBron James is entering the final year of his contract with the Los Angeles Lakers and rumors have already surfaced concerning his future with the franchise.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN hinted recently that the Cleveland Cavaliers have positioned themselves to pursue LeBron James next summer, as they will also have a ton of cap space to land the NBA superstar.

For his part, the 38-year-old superstar will soon be eligible to sign a two-year, $97.1M extension with the 17-time NBA champions and feels ‘extremely happy’ in LA.

“Sources briefed on the matter stress that James is extremely happy in Los Angeles despite the Lakers’ back-to-back rocky seasons.

He and his family, by all accounts, have grown increasingly entrenched in Southern California since James signed with the Lakers in the summer of 2018,” NBA insider Marc Stein wrote.

This season will be crucial for James’ future with the franchise. During his four-year stint with the squad, the Lakers have missed the playoffs twice and have won the NBA title once (2020).

Following a disappointing 2021/22 campaign, LeBron James could seek a move elsewhere if the Lakers fail to return to the postseason this year.

Last season, LeBron James averaged 30.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.2 assists, while shooting at 52.4% from the field and 35.9% from beyond the arc.

If LeBron James indeed returns to Cleveland next summer, this will be his third stint with the Cavaliers (2003-2010, 2014-2018).
