LeBron James may sit out the must-win game of the Los Angeles Lakers vs the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday.
The All-Star forward suffered a spained ankle in the first half of Sunday’s game vs the Pelicans. Even though he was able to play the rest of the game, he wasn’t at full speed.
Afterwards, LeBron James told reporters his ankle felt ‘horrible’ and could likely miss Tuesday’s clash with the Mavericks.
Lakers’ head coach Frank Vogel confirmed that LeBron James has swelling in his ankle and is doubtful for tomorrow’s game.
He also said LeBron didn’t practice with the team on Monday to undergo treatment, which makes him a game-time decision.
The Lakers want to bounce back from Sunday’s loss in New Orleans (108-116). However, that would be difficult without LeBron James and Anthony Davis in the lineup.
Davis is also doubtful for the contest, after having his first full practice with the team since February 16. It is not likely he will play, as the team wants to be cautious with his condition.
LeBron James has been unstoppable this season. He is averaging 30.1 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.3 assists in 55 games for Los Angeles. Despite his injury, he scored a game-high 39 points vs the Pelicans.
Following their loss, though, their spot in the play-in tournament is in jeopardy. The Lakers are 10th in the West, at 31-43, just a game above 11th-placed San Antonio Spurs (30-44).
And if LeBron James sits out the game vs the Mavericks, the Lakers could suffer their third straight loss and eighth in the last 10 games.
