The Los Angeles Lakers should bench Russell Westbrook for the entire 2022/23 season if they don’t trade him.
This is what an anonymous agent told Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report, noting that the 17-time NBA champions should put Westbrook out of rotation, just like the Houston Rockets did with John Wall.
“They’re better without Russ, and he won’t come off the bench. Good luck with that. He’s going to b—h and moan. He thinks he’s the Russ of old. ‘John Wall’ him and take time…to know what they need before jumping in. The team can’t lose this trade, and everyone knows it. Trading just to trade is an awful mentality,” the agent said.
It is obvious that the Lakers want to trade Russell Westbrook before the start of the season and have offered him to various teams.
Los Angeles wanted to send Westbrook to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Kyrie Irving. In addition, they wanted to include him in the package for Indiana Pacers’ duo of Buddy Hield and Myles Turner.
However, Jovan Buha of The Athletic recently reported that if Russell Westbrook remains with the Lakers, he will likely be a starter.
Russell Westbrook averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists in 78 games with the Lakers last season.
