Lakers rule LeBron James out vs Jazz

The Los Angeles Lakers have ruled LeBron James out for the road game vs the Utah Jazz on Thursday.

The four-time NBA champion has been dealing with injury and will not be in the lineup for the must-win game vs the Jazz.

LeBron James suffered a left ankle sprain in the loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday. He sat out the game vs the Dallas Mavericks on Tuesday to undergo treatment and he will now miss his second straight game.

Without the star forward, the Lakers suffered their third straight defeat and dropped out of the play-in tournament spots.

They currently are 11th and tied with 10th placed San Antonio Spurs, at 31-44. San Antonio has the tiebreaker, though. New Orleans is 9th with a 32-43 record.

The 17-time NBA champions list Anthony Davis as doubtful with a mid-foot sprain. The All-Star big man has been out since February 16 and the Lakers are 4-13 since then.

Davis is not expected to play vs the Jazz. His return will take place either Friday vs the Pelicans or Sunday vs the Denver Nuggets.

With seven games remaining, the Lakers have the toughest schedule in the league and the return of LeBron James and Anthony Davis will boost their chances to make it to the play-in tournament.
