The Los Angeles Lakers have been granted permission to interview Darvin Ham for the head coaching job. This is what Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times reports, citing a person with knowledge of the situation.

Ham has been working as an assistant coach for the Milwaukee Bucks since 2018 and won the championship last season.

The veteran assistant coach has worked with the Lakers for a couple of seasons (2011-2013). Before joining the Bucks, he spent five seasons with the Atlanta Hawks’ coaching staff.

Darvin Ham has been considered for previous head coaching vacancies with the Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Clippers, Cleveland Cavaliers, Indiana Pacers, Washington Wizards, Minnesota Timberwolves and Boston Celtics.

For their part, the Lakers are in search for a new head coach and want to hire Frank Vogel’s replacement by the NBA Draft (June 23).
