The Los Angeles Lakers parted ways with Frank Vogel and aim to hire a new head coach by the NBA Draft on June 23.
Vogel was the first to leave the team following a disappointing season that saw the franchise get eliminated from the play-in tournament.
GM Rob Pelinka opened up about the search for a new head coach and what plan the Lakers have.
“Pelinka said the Lakers will search for a head coaching candidate with a “strong voice” to inspire players and hold them accountable.
He adds the head coaching search will be “methodical”, but they hope to have a coach in place by the NBA Draft, which is on June 23,” Michael Corvo of Clutchpoints reports.
Several NBA coaches have already been linked to the 17-time NBA champions. Such coaches are Nick Nurse, Quin Snyder, Doc Rivers and NCAA coach Juwan Howard, among others.
No matter who the head coach will be, the Lakers are expected to make several changes to the roster, aiming to return to title contention.
