Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving stated his former Cavaliers teams could have won more championships if he was more mature.
During his appearance in the “I am Athlete” podcast on Monday, the Nets guard stated he didn’t know how to express his feelings.
“If I was in the same maturity line now and understanding of who I am … we definitely, definitely would’ve won more championships,” Irving said (h/t thescore.com).
The swift point guard played for six seasons with the Cavaliers with three of them being alongside LeBron James as part of a team that had the chance to win the championship.
James and Irving led the Cavs to a championship in 2016 after coming back from a 3-1 deficit vs the Golden State Warriors.
The superstar guard explained the reason why he left Cleveland claiming he did not know how to express his emotions back then.
“I didn’t know how to share my emotions,” he said. “I didn’t know how to do that. So instead of sharing, I isolated myself.”
Irving was later shipped to Boston spending two seasons there before joining the Brooklyn Nets alongside Kevin Durant.
