Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving had a memorable performance in Game 1 loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday. Irving responded to several Celtics’ fans when he flipped off some of them in the sidelines during the fourth quarter.

After dropping 39 and almost single-handedly bringing the Nets down from 13 to one bucket away from the win, Irving claimed will have the same energy with the Celtics’ fans going forward.

“Look, where I’m from, I’m used to all these antics and people being close nearby,” Kyrie told reporters in the post-game presser. “It’s nothing new when I come into this building what it’s going to be like — but it’s the same energy they have for me, I’m going to have the same energy for them.”

Irving played for two seasons in Boston before leaving the team after the 2018-19 season. Prior to the 2018-19 season, Irving said he wanted to sign long-term with the Celtics, only to change course at the end of the season and leave for the Nets.

Since then, Irving’s visits to Boston Garden have been met by the ire of the Celtics’ fans. The Nets’ star gaurd clarified it that not every Boston fan made his visit distasteful in the Boston Garden the last few years.

“And it’s not every fan, I don’t want to attack every fan, every Boston fan. When people start yelling ‘p—y’ or ‘b—-‘ and ‘f— you’ and all this stuff, there’s only but so much you take as a competitor,” Irving said.

Nets are down 1-0 in the series after Sunday’s matchup. After Kyrie’s impressive performance on Sunday’s game, the rest of the Nets’ team will have to follow, if Brooklyn wants to make it out of the series.

Next game is on Wednesday in Boston.
