Kyrie Irving could be eligible to play in the home games of the Brooklyn Nets in the coming weeks.
New York Mayor Eric Adams told reporters that the vaccine mandate could be lifted soon. As a result, the All-Star gurd will be able to play at Barclays Center.
“I sense a real focus and urgency from him. And so if that’s any indication, I would say he is getting excited at the prospect of being allowed to play in all our games and hopefully in the short term,” Brooklyn head coach Steve Nash told reporters, via ESPN.

Kyrie Irving has not played in any home games this season. The former NBA champion remains unvaccinated and is not allowed to play at Barclays Center. If that changes soon, though, he will be eligible to play at home for the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs.
Irving made his season debut with the Nets back in January 5, in the road game vs the Indiana Pacers. He is averaging 24.1 points, 5.4 assists and 4.8 rebounds over 14 games so far. For their part, the Nets are eighth in the East, at 31-28, with 23 games left.
