Kyle Lowry returned to Toronto for the first time as an opponent and helped the Miami Heat defeat the Raptors (114-109).

Lowry spent nine years with the Raptors (2012-2021) and was one of the key players in Toronto’s championship run in 2019.

The All-Star guard missed three of the four games between the two teams this season for personal reasons. And in his first game back in Toronto, the Raptors paid tribute to Kyle Lowry, who got a standing ovation from fans.

Lowry (16 points, 10 assists) was among six Heat players in double digits. Max Strus led the way for the winners with 23 points and 7 three-pointers (7/9), while Victor Oladipo had 21 points off the bench.

Pascal Siakam and Fred VanVleet were the top scorers for the losing squad, with 29 points each. Gary Trent Jr. and Scottie Barnes added 19 each.

Toronto was in control in the first half and led by double digits at halftime (45-55). Yet, the Heat turned things around and outscored the Raptors 69-54 in the second half to win the game.

Kyle Lowry and Miami won their fourth straight and improved to 51-28 in the standings. They remained on top of the East and need a couple more wins to clinch the top spot in the conference.

On the other hand, the Raptors saw their five-game winning streak come to an end and dropped to sixth, tied with fifth-placed Chicago Bulls (45-33).
