The New York Knicks have traded guard Kemba Walker to the Detroit Pistons, along with No.13 of the NBA Draft Jalen Duren.
Walker is on an expiring contract and is set to earn $9.2M next season. He is now expected to agree to a contract buyout with Detroit and become a free agent.
For their part, the Knicks traded the former All-Star in their effort to create cap space and pursue Jalen Brunson.
After a turbulent season with the Knicks, Kemba Walker will seek to sign with a team that will enable him return to the high standards he was playing at during his Charlotte Hornets days.
Walker is on an expiring $9.2M salary for next season. He gave back $20M as part of the buyout in OKC, only to recoup most of it in New York. The likelihood is that Walker will go into the trade exception created once the Jerami Grant trade is finalized. https://t.co/8uuUqCj7Dv — Bobby Marks (@BobbyMarks42) June 24, 2022
