Knicks’ Julius Randle likely out for rest of the season

New York Knicks will likely rule out Julius Randle for the rest of the season. Randle will miss the team’s Saturday game vs Cavaliers due to a lingering quad issue.

Tom Thibodeau revealed prior to the game that Randle will likely miss the five remaining games the Knicks have to play in the regular season.

“He’s out [Sunday, too] and most likely will be out the rest of the way,” Thibodeau said, via NY Post. “He’s had this nagging thing going on for a while.”

Randle saw his numbers going down this season after becoming a first-time All-Star last year. He is averaging 20.1 points, 9.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 72 games.

The Knicks were officially eliminated by playoff contention on Thursday. They will face Cleveland on Saturday and Orlando on Sunday.

They will finish the season with three games against Brooklyn, Washington and Toronto. New York will probably keep Randle out, especially if the quad issue continues to bother him.

Randle’s four-year, $117 million contract extension signed last offseason will kick in next season. He recently denied any rumors of him leaving New York after his relationship with the Knicks’ faithful fell off this year.
