Milwaukee Bucks star Khris Middleton is not expected to be available for Game 7 vs the Boston Celtics Sunday evening. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN (hat tip to Real GM), there was optimism that Middleton could be ready to compete if the series were to go to a Game 7.

Windhorst says that things haven’t developed at Milwaukee hoped they might. Now, there’s clearly pessimism regarding a potential return for Middleton. Middleton was initially ruled ot for the series vs Boston after suffering a Grade 2 MCL sprain in his left knee. Middleton returned to practice recently.

“Earlier this week, the folks I was talking to were giving me some optimism about Middleton playing this weekend, but that has not happened. That has not developed,” Windhorst reported.

“Now, I would say there’s pessimism about Sunday, and frankly, I have been told that even if the Bucks advance to the conference finals, there’d be pessimism he’d be ready to start”.

In Game 6 on Friday, Giannis Antetokounmpo poured 44 points but it wasn’t enough to get the win. Jrue Holiday followed with 17 points and Pat Connaughton added 14, but the rest of the squad did not help the Bucks offense. Middleton could offer a boost in Milwaukee’s half-court offense, which struggling for most of the series vs the Celtics.

The Bucks’ superstar averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 5.4 assists a game this season, and the Bucks were +5.2 per 100 possessions when he was on the court. In any case, Giannis will need another monster performance for Milwaukee to have a chance to steal the game in Boston and advance to the next round of the playoffs.

Game 7 between the Bucks and the Celtics is on Sunday evening at TD Boston Garden.
