Despite the disappointing ending to the season, Brooklyn’s superstar Kevin Durant still believes that Steve Nash is the right person to lead the Nets next season. Durant made it clear that his head coach had to deal with some crazy situations in his first two seasons.

“Steve’s been dealt a crazy hand the last two years,” Durant told reporters. “He’s had to deal with so much stuff as a head coach, first-time coach — trades, injuries, COVID, it’s just a lot of stuff he had to deal with.”

Nash had to deal with too much considering he started his role in Brooklyn without any previous coaching experience. Among his responsibility to deal with egos of three stars, he had to face the COVID-19 implications in the NBA and the world.

Kyrie Irving had only become available as a full-time player in March, while he was away from the team until December. Kevin Durant missed time with injury and in the meantime James Harden became disgruntled with the situation in Brooklyn.

“I’m proud of how he focused and his passion for us. We all continue to keep developing over the summer and see what happens,” Durant continued.

Nash now has two full seasons under his belt. The Nets are not expected to let the Hall of Famer became the fall guy for this disappointing season, according to Marc Stein.

In any case, Brooklyn will need to re-calibrate their roster and build around Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant. So, it will be a busy summer for the front office looking to improve and make the Nets contenders again.
