The Nets played again without Kevin Durant, who is expected to return Thursday vs the Miami Heat. This will be a huge boost for Brooklyn, as they need to string many wins in the remaining games to avoid the play-in tournament.
Brooklyn Nets experienced another disappointing defeat at the hands of the Toronto Raptors Tuesday night. As a result, they added to their misery with a 3-15 record in the last 18 games.
The Nets were 27-15 and second in the Eastern Conference when Durant went down. Since Jan. 16, Brooklyn has gone 5-16 after Tuesday’s loss to the Raptors.
Kyrie is not expected to be active in Durant’s return on Thursday, as he cannot play in New York because of the vaccine mandate. He was also out vs Toronto for the same reason.
Andre Drummond has experienced knee soreness and did not play in Toronto. At the same time, Steve Nash was away from the team due to the health and safety protocols.
Nash can clear health and safety protocols if he records two negative tests 24 hours apart. Drummond was part of the trade that sent James Harden to Philadelphia for Ben Simmons at the trade deadline.

Simmons has not been cleared yet after experiencing back soreness last week. The three-time All-Star is out for the time being, while sharpshooter Joe Harris is recovering from an ankle surgery.
The Nets will need to get over the hump and return to their winning ways with Durant back in the lineup.
