Brooklyn Nets superstar Kevin Durant admitted he has been “thinking too much” in the series matchups vs Boston. Durant addressed his offensive struggles Saturday after Brooklyn dropped the third consecutive game in the first round of the playoffs.
After being held to 16 points on 6-of-11 shooting in a 109-103 loss, the two-time NBA champion is shooting a playoff career-low 35.6 percent from the field in three straight disappointing losses. Durant is putting up just 22 points per contest over the first three games of this series.
“I was just thinking too much to be honest, this whole series,” Durant told reporters Saturday. “Like how I approach the game. We got another game to play, another opportunity, and I’m looking forward to that.”
The Celtics are dropping body after body on Durant, while they’re doing the same on Kyrie Irving, who shot 0-of-7 from beyond the arc Saturday night. Durant has committed 12 turnovers over the first three games of this series. As a team, the Nets have committed 48.
“When you got good teammates around you as well, you’re trying to figure out, I try to figure out how I can be the best version of myself and also not getting in my teammates’ way. Sometimes I think too much about it,” Durant stated.
The Nets’ superstar is averaging 43 minutes a game over the first three games of this series, but does not let this be an excuse for his struggles. Three Nets players are averaging more than 38 minutes per in series vs Boston.
The Nets will have one more chance to extend the first-round series vs Boston in Game 4 of the series Monday night. In any case, the Celtics need one more win to advance to the next round of the playoffs.
