Kendrick Nunn is expected to be part of the Los Angeles Lakers’ roster for the 2022/23 season. The young guard has a player option in his current contract and is expected to pick it up.
Nunn hasn’t played a single game for the Lakers this season, because of various health issues. The Lakers have ruled him out for the remainder of the season, as they are on the brink of elimination from the play-in tournament.
Following a disappointing year, the Lakers will make several changes to their roster, with the majority of the players set to become free agents.
For his part, Kendrick Nunn will pick up his player option and the franchise is willing to give him a second chance.
“How vice president Rob Pelinka and Los Angeles reshape the roster may be limited to a potential Russell Westbrook trade, or the Lakers revisiting their outgoing package of Talen Horton-Tucker and Kendrick Nunn that was frequently discussed with rival front offices ahead of February’s trade deadline.
The Lakers nearly sent Horton-Tucker to the Toronto Raptors in a three-team deal with the New York Knicks.
And Nunn is expected to pick up his $5.25 million player option for next season, sources said, after not appearing in a game this year,” Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report writes.
It remains to be seen if Kendrick Nunn will have an active role in the Lakers’ roster next season. If not, then the 17-time NBA champions could use him in a Russell Westbrook trade package.
