Obi Toppin survived an underwhelming Slam Dunk Contest and brought the trophy to New York City. The Knicks’ big bested Warriors’ Juan-Toscano Anderson, who became the first Mexican player to participate in the Slam Dunk Contest.
Toppin went around the back while clearing his assistant in his first attempt. He closed out the opening round with an off-the-glass, between-the-legs, two-handed double-pump reverse.
The sophomore big finished the contest by going through the legs and tapping the backboard, completing an altered version of his earlier attempt for all 9s and 10s.

In the revamped skills challenge contest, Team Cavs protected its home court, downing Team Rooks led by Cade Cunningham, Josh Giddey, and Scottie Barnes.
Consisted of All-Star Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland and rookie Evan Mobley the Cavaliers’ trio defeated Team Rooks in a half-court shootout that decided the final round.
The NBA switched up the format for the 2022 Skills Challenge, making it more of a team competition than an individual affair.
