After the disappointing ending to the first-round playoff series vs the Grizzlies, Karl-Anthony Towns saw the bright side of the Minnesota Timberwolves first-round defeat.

Towns admitted that the series vs Memphis made Minnesota a better team. The Grizzlies advanced to the Western Conference semifinals with a 114-106 victory and a 4-2 series win.

“Being totally honest, I thank the Grizzlies for making us a better team, for us giving good fight, good series,” Towns told reporters.

“I think we all knew what this series was going to be and I think both teams showed why they deserve to be in the playoffs and why they deserve to have this chance to show what they can do.”

The T-wolves started the season with the goal to make the playoffs. They finished the second part of the regular season as one of the best teams in the West, but, the ended with the no.7 seed.

They had to get past the Clippers in the play-in tournament to clinch their place in 2-7 seed matchup against the young and exciting Memphis Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies shot worse than the Timberwolves, but won the battle of the rebounds, turnovers and free throws to close the series in six games.

“Got to give them credit. They did enough of what was needed to win and take nothing from them,” Towns said.

Minnesota was able to stop Morant in several games, but, the rest of the Grizzlies stepped up with former Timberwolves Tuys Jones being an important factor and Brandon Clarke providing a spark coming off the bench.
