Jordan Poole, Andrew Wiggins propel shorthanded Warriors in win vs Heat

Golden State Warriors decided to rest Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Otto Porter Jr. in Wednesday’s matchup against the Miami Heat. Jordan Poole and Andrew Wiggins took over Wednesday night in absence of the Warriors’ big three.

The Warriors were coming off a tough defeat at the hands of the Orlando Magic, but, the decision to sit out players had nothing to do with their Tuesday’s defeat.

Even without Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, the Dubs run away from the Heat in the last quarter to secure a much-needed 118-104 win.

Jordan Poole was the biggest reason Golden State won against the top team in the Eastern Conference, while Andrew Wiggins also rose to the occasion, especially in the second half. The Canadian forward finished with 22 points (20 after the intermission) on 8-of-16 shooting.

Wiggins scored eight consecutive points in a 45-seconds span to push the lead to 15 in the fourth quarter. After a bad scoring night in Orlando, the Warriors exploded for 68 points in the second half to hold off Miami.

“He’s capable every single night. He has no reason to listen to the noise because he’s a great player. Huge win for us, and he’s big part, if not the reason we won,” Poole said on Wiggins in the post-game presser.

Jordan Poole scored 30 points to continue his hot scoring run, plus had a career-best nine assists, helping the Warriors forget a painful loss to one of the worst teams in the league.

”It’s so important to just keep pushing ahead and not succumb to the noise and to the roller-coaster nature of it all,” Kerr said, via NBA.com. ”You just got to keep pushing forward. And that’s what our guys did tonight.”
