John Wall joining Los Angeles Clippers

After retaining Nic Batum and Amir Coffey, the Los Angeles Clippers has made the signing of John Wall official, as Klutch Sports Group announced Friday. Wall worked on a buyout with the Rockets before joining the Clippers.

The former No. 1 pick earned five consecutive All-Star appearances with the Washington Wizards before a series of injuries, including a torn Achilles, forced him to miss the entire 2019-20 campaign.

He hasn’t played a basketball games since the 2020-21 season, as the Rockets were unable to find a trade partner after both parties agreed he’d sit out until a deal was made. He only played 40 games in the last three seasons.

His contract with the Clippers will be for two-years worth a $13.2 million. Wall, 31, averaged 19.1 points, 9.1 assists, and 4.3 rebounds in 613 career games. If he stays healthy he will address a need for the Clippers in the point guard position.

With Kawhi Leonard returning from and Paul George also being healthy ahead of the 2022-23 season, the Clippers could have a serious chance on contenting for a title next season. Wall will compliment the two stars adequately if he stays away from injury issues.
