John Wall has picked up his player option, worth $47.4M, for the next season, yet his future with the Houston Rockets remains unclear.
Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, who is Wall’s agent, informed the organization about his client’s decision to exercise his option.
Houston Rockets’ John Wall’s agent, Klutch Sports CEO Rich Paul, has informed the organization that the guard exercised his $47.4 million player option for the 2022-23 season, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. — Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) June 21, 2022
John Wall joined the Rockets in December of 2020, via a trade from the Washington Wizards. In 40 games with Houston in the 2020/21 season, he averaged 20.6 points, 6.9 assists and 3.2 rebounds.
Last year, he reached an agreement with the front office to sit out the season until he gets traded. However, this didn’t happen and the Rockets shut him down for the entire season.
With that in mind and Houston being in a rebuild mode, the two sides will attempt to agree to a deal that will let Wall leave the franchise, either via a trade or a contract buyout. John Wall will be a free agent in the summer of 2023.
