Joel Embiid was pretty clear when asked about how the facial injury he is dealing with has affected his performance vs the Miami Heat.

The superstar big man said playing through injuries to his face and thumb is a ‘lose-lose’ situation for him.

“This is a ‘lose-lose’ situation for me. If I don’t play, I probably get called soft and if I play and I play bad, they probably come up with a bunch of stuff that I guess he’s just not good enough.

It’s all about staying—not get too high or too low and just going out there and really try to dig very deep and try to do whatever I can,” the leader of the Sixers told media ahead of Game 6 vs the Heat on Thursday.

Joel Embiid had 17 points, on 7-for-12 shooting, five rebounds and a minus-29 in 33 minutes in Game 5 loss to Miami (85-120).

Joel Embiid was asked if he was putting himself at risk by playing in the Miami series… "This is a lose-lose situation for me. If I don't play, I'd probably be called soft. If I play and I play bad, it's that I'm not good enough." pic.twitter.com/D7Pvg9MXX9 — HoopsHype (@hoopshype) May 11, 2022
