Joel Embiid didn’t have much to say about his matchup with Nikola Jokic in the Denver Nuggets – Philadelphia 76ers game.
The superstar of the Sixers called the collision with Jokic ‘just a reguar season game’ and focused on what went wrong for his team.
“No not at all, regular season game, Denver versus the 76ers, we had a good start and then at the beginning of the fourth and at the end of the first half was terrible for us and it wasn’t about me or anybody else it was about that we did everything possible to try and get a win,” Embiid told the media, including Hedgeout.net, afterwards.
This was the first meeting between Joel Embiid and Nikola Jokic since December 10, 2019. The Serbian center had 22 points, 13 rebounds and 8 assists in the game. For his part, Embiid posted 34 points and nine boards.
The two superstars are the grand favorites for the MVP award and their face-off was much anticipated. The reigning MVP is averaging 26.1 points, 13.8 rebounds and 8.1 assists. Meanwhile, Joel Embiid has averages of 29.8 points, 11.3 boards and 4.4 assists.
Denver and Philadelphia split the season series (1-1), after the Nuggets’ 114-110 win. The two franchises can face each other again only in the Finals.
