Joel Embiid has been named the scoring champion for the 2021/22 NBA season, after the end of the regular season.
With a scoring average of 30.6 points per game, Embiid became the first center since Shaquille O’Neal to win a scoring title (29.7 ppg in 1999-2000).
He also is the first center to average over 30 points per game since Moses Malone (31.1 ppg in 1981-82) when he finished as runner up for scoring title.

Embiid also became the first international player to win an NBA scoring title and the first Sixer to lead the league in scoring since Allen Iverson won his fourth and final scoring title in 2004-05 (30.7 ppg).
The superstar of the Philadelphia 76ers had 13 40-point games and 40 30-point games in the season.
Joel Embiid is also the prime candidate for the MVP award, alongside reigning MVP Nikola Jokic and two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo.
