Joel Embiid hits game-winning shot in OT thriller to lead the Sixers to 3-0 over Raptors

Joel Embiid hit a three-pointer with 0.8 remaining in overtime to give the Philadelphia 76ers a 104-101 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night. The Sixers took a 3-0 lead in the series and they need one more to advance to next round.

Embiid took an inbounds pass from Danny Green with 0.9 seconds left on the shot clock and hit a turnaround shot from near the sideline before running back to his bench in celebration.

Embiid had 33 points and 13 rebounds, helping the 76ers rally from a 17-point deficit. James Harden added 19 points and 10 assists before he fouled out in the closing minutes of the regulation.

Tyrese Maxey also scored 19 points continuing his hot shooting for the Sixers, who can end the series in Game 4 Saturday. For the Raptors, Anunoby scored 26 points, Gary Trent Jr. had a playoff-high 24, and Precious Achiuwa had 20.

Philadelphia never held a lead in regulation, finally grabbing a 99-97 edge after Maxey’s shot with 3:27 left in overtime. The Raptors had the chance to take the lead in the last seconds after Embiid fouled Anunoby.

The Toronto forward made the first but missed the second, knotting it at 101-all. Doc Rivers called a timeout and the Sixers walked away with a huge victory despite being down almost all game.

Philadelphia had two chances to win it in regulation, but Embiid missed a three and Harris couldn’t convert after grabbing the rebound. The two teams will meet again on Saturday in Toronto for Game  4 of the series.
