Philadelphia 76ers appeared aggressive on and off the court in the first two games of the series vs Toronto. Embiid had some words for the Raptors’ head coach after the Sixers cruised past his team in Game 2.
Embiid had an exchange with Nurse during the game talking about the officiating. The Sixers’ star revealed what he told Nurse in the post-game presser. Embiid finished with 31 points to lead the 76ers to 2-0.
“Respectfully, to stop b—hing about calls,” Embiid told reporters when asked what he said. “… I feel like every foul was legit and should have been more, honestly.”
Embiid shot 12 free throws in the first quarter as Toronto came out with a physical approach after dropping Game 1 on Saturday. Even though the Sixers’ superstar made 11 of those early free throws, the Raptors won the first quarter 33-32.
Despite all the fuss, the 76ers had a 15-point lead at the half and they never looked back since the first quarter. All five starters ended up in double digits, with the only point of concern being James Harden’s poor shooting.
Harden finished with a quiet 14 points on 3-of-9 shooting with six rebounds, six assists and three steals. Now, the series move to Toronto for the next two games.
The Raptors may have to face the next game without Scottie Barnes, while Matisse Thybulle will stay in Philadelphia due to Canada’s vaccine mandate.
