Miami Heat experienced their third straight loss in the game vs the New York Knicks despite having a 17-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
Eventually, the Knicks got back in the game and won it 111-103 with Thibodeau’s team running away with the victory.
The Knicks made a 38-13 run in the fourth quarter as Immanuel Quickley scored 20 of his 23 points during that stint. Miami missed shot after shot, while the Knicks amped up their defensive intensity.
That was the third loss for Miami in the last three games, with the previous ones coming against two shorthanded teams in the Sixers and Warriors.
The Heat lost to Philadelphia on Monday night, even though the Sixers weren’t playing Joel Embiid or James Harden. They lost to Golden State on Wednesday night, with the Warriors being without Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green.
“It’s not again. This is totally different,” Spoelstra said via Sports Illustrated. “Each game is different. This was a game that was really decided by the second chance opportunities that they had.”
However, the Heat do not seem concerned by the recent slide. Before Friday, the Miami Heat had two three-game losing streaks this season.
“It’s not very concerning, just because we know we have to play better,” Jimmy Butler, who had 30 points to lead all scorers for Miami, said.
“We have to find a way to score some points and get some stops on the defensive end. We’re capable of it. We did it early on in the year. We just have to get back to that.”
This loss to the Knicks came with plenty of New York players sidelined, most notably Julius Randle. The Heat played without Tyler Herro.
