Jazz seek to snap current slide in clash with Lakers

The Utah Jazz aim to return to the winning track in the home game vs the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday.

Utah is on a five-game losing skid and won only once in its six-game road trip that ended Tuesday in Los Angeles (1-5).

The Jazz blew a 25-point lead and suffered a 115-121 loss to the Clippers in Paul George’s return (34 points).

As a result of its current slide, Utah has dropped to sixth in the West, at 45-31. However, they are just half a game below fifth-placed Denver Nuggets (46-31).

On the other hand, the Lakers are in serious danger of missing the playoffs. They hold the final play-in tournament spot, but the San Antonio Spurs (11th, 31-45) are just half a game below.

Los Angeles has lost three in a row and seven of its last nine and will take on the Jazz without the superstar duo of LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

They are both dealing with injuries and the Lakers have ruled them out, targeting a return on Friday’s must-win game vs the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Jazz will also try to avoid a season sweep by the Lakers for just the second time in 37 years. LA is 2-0 vs Utah this season.
