Jayson Tatum says he and Jaylen Brown “fueled” by people questioning their fit

Boston Celtics never stop believing the duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown could lead them to success, even when people questioned their fit together. The noise got even louder after the Celtics started 16-18 and fell to 11th in the Eastern Conference.

Now, Boston is in the finals due to Tatum and Brown playing their best postseason basketball together. The narrative changed as the Celtics went on a wild second-part of the season run to make the playoffs as the second seed in the East.

“I think all of those things have helped. From saying that we need to split the group up or get rid of somebody or me and JB can’t play together. That fueled us to figure it out and not run from it,” Tatum said.

“We’re obviously going to be here for awhile and that we trust in each other and that we have to be better. So yeah, I think instead of separating, we became closer, and I think it has shown throughout the season.”

Boston made a great playoff run so far. They dismissed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, endured seven games of Giannis Antetokounmpo relentlessly attacking them and overcame the resilient Miami Heat.

Now they will face the dynastic Warriors in the NBA Finals starting Thursday.
