Boston Celtics missed a big chance to take over the series vs Miami as the undermanned Heat prevail in Boston. Jaylen Brown went for 40 points, but that wasn’t enough to beat the Butler-less Miami in the second half.

Brown stated turnovers cost the game for his team. The Celtics had a postseason high 24 turnovers in the loss- the second most they had in this season. Brown committed seven of them and Tatum had six.

The Heat finished the game with 19 steals and 33 points off turnovers. As a result, they wasted Brown’s 40-point effort. The Celtics did not generate the right amount of offense as Tatum finished with just 10 points.

“We didn’t come out with the right intensity or we didn’t come out with the same intensity as them as a unit, and it showed. They came out all connected with urgency. Defensively we gave up a lot of points,” Brown told reporters.

Boston fell down 62-37 at half-time. But they erased the deficit in the second half getting back in the game early in the fourth quarter. Miami played without Butler in the second half, but held to the win thanks to Bam Adebayo.

“Defensively they were more physical than us, and it showed in the first half especially, and then we tried to dig ourselves out in the second half and fell short,” Brown continued.

The Celtics are set to face Miami again on Monday night, as Brown and the rest of his teammates will try to bounce back from a painful Saturday loss.
