Jamal Murray ‘unlikely’ to play for Nuggets in the playoffs

Jamal Murray will miss the regular season finale of the Denver Nuggets and it is ‘unlikely’ he will play in the playoffs as well.

This is what NBA Insider Shams Charania is reporting, citing sources close to the team. Still, there is no official update from the Nuggets, who haven’t ruled Murray out for the remainder of the season.

“Nuggets star guard Jamal Murray and forward Michael Porter Jr. will be out for season finale Sunday vs. Lakers. Sources say, as of now, they are unlikely to return to action during playoffs,” Charania reports.

“I don’t think we need to paint ourselves into a corner and make any definitive decisions right now because this is not a mile race where it’s four laps and it’s over. We have no idea where the finish line is.

Until we have a better idea of that, let’s leave all options on the table and see what happens on a day-to-day basis,” Denver head coach Michael Malone recently said.

Jamal Murray had an ACL surgery in April of 2021. He is now on the final stage of his recovery and has participated in several workouts with his teammates. However, the medical staff hasn’t yet cleared him for a return to the floor.

The Nuggets are sixth in the West, at 48-33, tied with the Utah Jazz. They have clinched a playoff spot for a fourth straight season and want to overcome the Jazz and finish fifth. Denver will take on the Golden State Warriors or the Dallas Mavericks in the first round.
