Memphis Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins and superstar guard Ja Morant were not happy with the officiating in his team’s 118-119 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves Saturday night. Jenkins did not hold back during the post-game presser.

“In my opinion, one of the most poorly officiated games I’ve ever seen in my NBA career. … I’ve never seen a more inconsistent, arrogant officiated game,” Jenkins said. The Grizzlies lost Game 4 and now they’re heading back home tied at 2-2 with the Wolves.

All five of Memphis’ starters had at least four fouls, and Minnesota shot 40 free throws. The refs called Memphis for 33 fouls compared to 23 for Minnesota. Jenkins called the officiating embarrassing.

In a game that marred by fouls, both teams have struggled to play consistently throughout Game 4. Morant just shot 4-of-13 in game that was called for four fouls. The Grizzlies’ superstar was furious with the officials.

“S–t terrible. I don’t even foul like that,” Morant told reporters after Saturday’s defeat. With the series heading to Memphis, the Grizzlies will have to also play better in order to get the win in a crucial Game 5.

“We know we’ve gotta get better, but from the get-go, it was foul, foul, foul, foul, foul, inconsistency. There was actually one play where a foul whistle was blown before contact was even made. It’s embarrassing,” Jenkins said.
