Ja Morant will not be available to play in the Memphis Grizzlies contest against the Houston Rockets on Sunday evening, the team announced.
Morant was active in the previous game of the Grizzlies, who lost to Atlanta 105-120. The Memphis’ superstar was subbed out during that game and went directly to the locker room.
The Grizzlies ruled out their star guard Saturday with knee soreness. He was questionable leading into the game at Atlanta with back soreness.

He was able to compete in the game. However, he now appears to have tweaked his right knee during the final minutes of the latest Memphis contest.
Morant is one of the best players in the league during his third season in Memphis. He’s averaging 27.6 points, 6.7 assists and 5.7 rebounds through 56 games.
It’s unknown how long Morant will be out of action, but, the first impression seems to be that it’s not a serious issue. With the All-Star guard out, Tuys Jones will see a considerable amount of time as the starting point guard.
Jones, in his seventh NBA season, is averaging a career-high 8.1 points per to go along with a career-low 0.6 turnovers per game. After Houston, the Grizzlies will face the Brooklyn Nets at home on March 23.
It’s still unclear if Morant will be able to play in the much-anticipated game against Kevin Durant and co.
