Boston Celtics claimed their 50th win this season (50-30) and head coach Ime Udoka was happy about that achievement.
Udoka said people expect the Celtics to win 50+ games every season and shared his excitement about making Boston a title contender again.
“When I signed on here it was pretty much given that we’re gonna win 50 games, that’s the expectation. That’s what people expect of this team.
It’s a good thing to get back to where we expect it to be,” Udoka told media, including Hedgeout.net, after the blowout victory over the Chicago Bulls (117-94).
Following a poor season start and a 18-21 record midway through the season, Boston turned things around.
Thanks to their defense, which is the best in the NBA (104.1 ppg), the Celtics have won 32 of the 41 games they have played since then.
And with two games remaining, coach Udoka wants to see his players play even better and remain healthy ahead of the playoffs.
“Health and playing our best basketball are paramount going into the playoffs, and that’s what we’re doing right now. Two more games to fine-tune some things, figure out what we’re gonna do, and go from there,” Ime Udoka added.
Following their third straight win and 14th in the last 17 games, the Celtics clinched the home-court advantage in the first round.
Boston now has its sights set on Thursday’s clash with the Milwaukee Bucks (49-30). A victory over the reigning champions will bring the team closer to the second place.
