Iffe Lundberg signed a two-way deal with the Phoenix Suns recently after parting ways with CSKA Moscow due to the Russian invasion in Ukraine.
Lundberg will become the first Danish player to reach in the NBA. The dynamic guard had his first practice with the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday ahead of the game vs Golden State.
The former EuroLeague star claimed that it’s a dream come true joining an NBA team, especially the best one this season as Phoenix is leading the league with 62 wins.
“Super talented team,” Lundberg said. “Very unselfish team. They play just with a high speed, such great energy to be honest.”
Lundberg has a chance to make an impact in the NBA. He has a great build for a guard, and his shooting ability made him a surefire pick for any NBA team.
The 6-4 point guard has shot the ball exceptionally well during the one-and-a half season in the EuroLeague having a career average of 37.1 percent from beyond the arc.
Lundberg felt more comfortable this season after playing 15 games last year for CSKA Moscow. He shot 55 threes last season, while, this year, he amped up his volume with 80 threes through 24 games.
“He’s got a great body for a guard,” Suns coach Monty Williams told reporters. “He really shoots the ball a lot better than I anticipated. I didn’t know much about him and when he first got into the gym, I saw how easy he shot the ball.”
Playing 37 games for CSKA Moscow this season, Lundberg averaged 10.3 points on 46.1% shooting (33.8% from 3), 2.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.1 steals. Lundberg will have limited time to show his talent as the Danish guard had his first practice in five weeks on Tuesday.
“Very intensive,”Lundberg said. “That comes with the winning culture. Obviously, this is the No. 1 team in the NBA and that shows even on the practice court. These guys, they’re very competitive, they battle it out and they just go.”
