Charlotte Hornets are among the teams searching for a new head coach and among the candidates is the former Lakers’ head coach Frank Vogel, per Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

Vogel is one of the candidates interviewed by zoom, per Fischer. Vogel was fired by the Lakers at the end of the season after failing to make the postseason with a roster consisted from Anthony Davis, LeBron James and Russell Westbrook.

The former Pacers HC also was the head coach when the Los Angeles Lakers won the title back in 2020 in team headlined by Davis and LeBron. Vogel has compiled a 431-389 record in 11 seasons with the Pacers, Magic and Lakers overall.

The Hornets are looking to replace James Borrego, who was fired after three seasons in Charlotte. Borrego led the team in two consecutive appearances in the play-in tournament, but the Hornets failed to make the postseason each season.

Charlotte is expected to hire a veteran coach for the head coaching vacancy. Other reported candidates to have interviewed for the position are Mike D’Antoni, Kenny Atkinson and Darvin Ham. The later two are also candidates for the Lakers’ vacancy.
