Memphis Grizzlies starting center will be sidelined for Game 6 of the first-round series vs the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team announced. Adams has entered NBA’s health and safety protocols Thursday prior to the potential close out game of the series.
The Grizzlies are one win away from advancing to the next round after Tuesday’s Game 5 victory. Adams had a strong season for the Grizzlies, but hasn’t been a big factor in their first-round series against Minnesota.
He has played less than seven in four games since logging 24 in Memphis’ blowout defeat at the beginning of the series. In addition to Adams, rookie forward Ziaire Williams is doubtful with right knee soreness.
Taylor Jenkins elected to go with more versatile bigs in his lineups the last four games with Brandon Clarke and Jaren Jackson Jr. at the center. If Memphis win, the team will advance to the Western Conference semifinals and the series vs the Warriors will begin Sunday.
In any other case, if the Timberwolves force a Game 7, then the semifinal series will be pushed back to Tuesday.
