Memphis Grizzlies made a historic comeback in Game 3 of the Western Conference first-round series vs the Minnesota Timberwolves. As Desmond Bane led them with seven threes and 26 points in a 104-95 win.
The Grizzlies gained the first lead in the series winning their second game in the row. Brandon Clarke scored 16 of his 20 points in the second half for Memphis, and Ja Morant had a quiet triple-double with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
This was the first playoff career triple-double for Morant, who had 23 points, 10 assists and 9 rebounds in the previous game. Tyus Jones hit two dagger 3-pointers against his former team down the stretch to put the game away.
Grizzlies re-took the home court advantage and they will hope to add to the winning column on Saturday’s Game 4 to become the clear favorite of the series again. D’Angelo Russell had 22 points and eight assists for the Wolves.
Memphis set a new franchise record for biggest comeback victory for the Grizzlies, who outscored Minnesota 37-12 in the fourth quarter. Brandon Clarke had 12 of those 37 points in the last 12 minutes of the game.
Prior to that, the Grizzlies made a 23-4 run in the last 10:28 of the second quarter to make the matchup a competitive game again. Wolves opened the first quarter with a 39-21 lead.
