Memphis Grizzlies took the NBA by storm the past season as they finished with the 2nd best record in the West and reached the Conference semifinals.

Zach Kleiman, the Grizzlies’ general manager and vice president of basketball operations, made clear that the franchise will do whatever it’s needed to keep Ja Morant and the rest of the core intact.

“We’re not going to have any issues paying anyone who we want to pay,” Zach Kleiman said Sunday, via Associated Press. “There’s never going to be any issue with retention here.”

Kleiman, who was named Executive of the Year,  build a young core capable of leading the Grizzlies to victories. Their improvement the last three seasons was remarkable as a team making the playoffs two consecutive years.

Morant enters the last year of his rookie deal and he will be eligible for a five-year max extension this summer. Memphis’ goal is maintaining team chemistry while working toward winning a championship.

“We’re not going to have any issue whatsoever keeping together whoever we ultimately decide along the way.”

Morant is also willing to remain in Memphis and continued working towards a championship. He was unable to play in the last two games of the series vs Warriors due to a knee injury.

“I’m definitely happy to be here. Memphis is my home,” Morant said. “If your (question) is: Do I want to be in Memphis? Hell, yeah.”
