Goran Dragic set to join the Nets

Goran Dragic will join the Brooklyn Nets for the remainder of the season, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.

The veteran guard is working on a buyout with the San Antonio Spurs. He will most likely become a free agent very soon.

Dragic joined the Spurs from the Toronto Raptors before the February 10 trade deadline. He only appeared in five games for Toronto and was away from the team since November (personal reasons).

Once he becomes a free agent, Dragic will sign with the Nets. For its part, Brooklyn will waive Jevon Carter to create an open spot in the roster.

In Brooklyn, Goran Dragic will play under former Suns teammate and Nets coach Steve Nash. The two played together in Phoenix from 2008 to 2011.

The Nets bolstered their roster during the deadline, aiming to return to title contention. They are currently eighth in the East, at 31-28.

Yet, the addition of Dragic, Seth Curry, Ben Simmons and Andre Drummond, along with the return of Kevin Durant puts them back to the title picture.
