Milwaukee Bucks showed once again that they are ready to challenge the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference semifinal series and Giannis Antetokounmpo played a big part during Game 3 victory.
Coming off a tough shooting night in Game 2 loss, the Bucks’ superstar took over next game to finish with 42 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Giannis shot 16 of 30 from the field, and went to the free-throw line 12 times to produce nine points.
In the crucial fourth quarter, Antetokounmpo kept the Bucks alive with timely baskets as he scored 11 of his 42 points during that stint. Giannis stated what changed for him between Game 2 and Game 3 performances.
“I just tried to read whatever is in front of me, play to my strengths as much as possible,” Antetokounmpo told reporters. “I know what my strengths are.
Sometimes I’ll make the right play, sometimes I’ll make the wrong play, but as long as I play within my strengths, I’m going to be in a good place.”
The Bucks as a team were in a good place for most of the third quarter, entering the fourth with a 13-point lead. The Celtics fought back and tried to steal the game and take a crucial victory away from home.
However, the Bucks retained the lead due to Giannis and Jrue Holiday, who led the team in scoring. Antetokounmpo claimed the Bucks stayed on course despite struggles to retain the lead in the series.
”There’s going to be struggles, but at the end of the day, if you keep with it and you stay with it and you stay on course, you’re going to succeed,” Antetokounmpo said, via NBA.com. ”If you don’t stay on course, you’re not going to succeed. It’s as simple as that.”
The Bucks will meet Boston again on Monday for Game 4 of the series at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
