Frank Vogel disappointed after Lakers’ blowout loss to Suns

Frank Vogel couldn’t hide his disappointment after the blowout loss of the Los Angeles Lakers to the Phoenix Suns (111-140).

Vogel said the Lakers’ performance on both ends was ‘unacceptable’. The veteran coach added the team had no defensive focus and nothing they did was good enough.

The Lakers made one of the worst defensive performances of the season. They conceded 48 points in the opening quarter, 79 at halftime and 140 overall. All of them were season highs for the Suns.

Los Angeles dropped to 29-38 in the standings and is just 1.5 games above 10th placed New Orleans Pelicans (28-40).

With their playoff spot in jeopardy, Malik Monk echoed Frank Vogel’s comments. The young guard noted the Lakers need to play with a sense of urgency defensively.

Up next, the 17-time NBA champions return to Crypto.com Arena to host the Toronto Raptors on Monday. The Raptors (7th in the East) are coming off back-to-back road wins over the Suns and Denver Nuggets.
