Miami Heat suffered another tough defeat at the hands of a team that didn’t have any of their stars available.
The Warriors played without Draymond Green, Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry and manage to scrap a 118-104 win over Miami.
During another disappointing loss, the Heat head coach was not happy with his team’s effort in defense. As a result, an altercation between Spoelstra, Butler and Udonis Haslem started during a timeout.
Jimmy Butler and Udonis Haslem were shouting at each other, fingers were pointed in various directions, some Miami players were trying to play peacemaker and Heat coach Erik Spoelstra slammed a clipboard to the floor in frustration.
The dust-up occurred as Golden State blew open a tied game by opening the second half on a 19-0 run. However, Miami responded to re-take the lead before falling.
The Heat dropped a winnable game and now the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics are 1.5 games behind them for the top seed in the Eastern Conference.
”You can use moments during the season to catapult you,” Spoelstra said, via NBA.com. ”You can galvanize together over frustration and disappointment.
Teams can also go the other way. I don’t see that with our group. I don’t see that with our locker room. But we have needed a kick in the butt.”
Spoelstra explained exactly what happened in the huddle in the post game presser saying that his team has not played the way they should be in the last two contests.
“Everybody was wondering where dinner planned for tonight. It’s pretty clear. We have a very competitive, gnarly group and we were getting our asses kicked.”
“Two straight game we weren’t played to the level that we wanted to play”.
The Heat played without Sixth Man of the Year candidate Tyler Herro losing some scoring punch off the bench.
The Heat will have the chance to bounce back next game staying home to face the New York Knicks on Friday.
